User Reviews

Towbook is valued for organizing and streamlining tow operations and is considered essential by long-time users, with praise for its usefulness and consistency over the years. However, many reviews highlight reliability issues: iOS notification problems (audibility, sound customization, CarPlay integration), photo capture/upload failures, and occasional crashes or data loss. Cross‑device inconsistencies (Android vs iOS, limited CarPlay support) and repeated input losses also frustrate users. To satisfy customers, improvements in notifications, offline handling, stability, and platform parity are needed.
Pros
  • Keeps tow operations organized and improves workflow.
  • Widely used and trusted in the tow industry; long-term reliability.
  • Valuable tool that is worth the investment.
  • Generally works well and has improved over time.
Cons
  • Unreliable or inaudible notifications on iOS and CarPlay; lack of customizable alert tones and persistent alerts.
  • Photo upload failures and camera reliability issues (photos not saving/uploading, paper-clip icon, corrupted uploads).
  • Crashes, freezes, and other stability issues; data loss or input deletion on usage.
  • Inconsistent cross-device experience and lack of CarPlay parity; features differ between iOS/Android and website.
  • Repeated data-entry problems (retyping VINs/license plates) and other input losses.

The app is pretty good, I would still like to be able to look at photos while you’re editing the call. Also, if the app would save your times that you go in route or go on scene, even though you don’t have service, just save it and then upload it after would be great and for the love of God get rid of that stupid 😢 that shows up every time you try to complete the call and you’ve missed a signature or something that stupid 😢 just utterly ridiculous. Other than that, it’s all right it’s getting better. Keep up the good work. oh yeah, change it so it doesn’t ask for keys every single time where the keys who you receive the keys would you give the keys to? Sometimes there’s no keys involved if I put NA for not applicable then leave it at that. why do I have to still fill out the other two request for where the keys are?

You take photos using the app, you have it selected to still save to camera roll to be safe, you take 15 photos and hit done, and you don’t see the normal count of photos uploading , you see a non descriptive paper clip icon. That almost always means you lost the photos as they won’t save to your camera roll and won’t upload to the call either.
