User Reviews

APDL is a feature-rich logbook with strong 117/rest-tracking and auto-fill automation that many pilots rely on, plus a handy commuting tool. Repeated complaints focus on price, reliability and data-import issues, plus uneven customer support and limited interoperability with other logbook apps.
Pros
  • Strong FAR 117 compliance and rest/time calculation tools (FDP tracking, daily limits).
  • Autofill and automatic data capture (OOOI times, flight times, and leg credit) that simplify logbook maintenance.
  • Useful commuting feature that helps identify home-base options and schedule compatibility.
  • Wide range of automation and tools (notes, payroll, weather, delays) that keep data up to date and organized.
Cons
  • High price with recent increases; perceived value seems out of reach for some users.
  • Data import and integration issues (FLICA/schedule imports) that can render trips or schedules unreliable.
  • Bugs and usability problems (dates, FDP calculations) and a steeper learning curve; some users call it not user-friendly.
  • Customer service and refund experiences are inconsistent, including reports of limited refunds.
  • Limited interoperability (no sync with LogBook Pro) and gaps for cargo/part 121 readiness.

Version 15.0 packed with new features. We can't thank our airline pilot community enough for their great support of this product.

…this is probably your best bet for crew rostering, logbook and Part 117 legality checking for U.S.-based pilots flying under Part 121. Where things fall apart is for non-scheduled/ACMI operators without a domicile (e.g., home-based pilots). Granted it’s a niche part of the pilot community but wreaks havoc with the software’s algorithms when acclimated rest locations factor into computing legality. The software will assume you have returned to your home “base” whether you actually do or not during a rotation. There’s no workaround for this. Also, companies using next-gen AIMS rostering software are out of luck for importing schedules. APDL does not support the new AIMS version. On the positives, there are ample opportunities for customized payroll and duty categories, rigs, etc. Scheduled Part 121 operators are most likely to benefit from APDL. Others may find it useful as long as its limitations are acknowledged.

Paid for it with the impression that I could try for 30 days. Apparently the trial period is a different link. Lots of email threads showing how I couldn’t get it to work any better than manually inserting logbook data and the completely refuse to refund money. Sternly advise any other program.
