User Reviews

The game unfortunately ends up feeling kind of bland. The backgrounds are nice and I like the idea behind the toys, but the game doesn’t sell the idea well. It seems like Animakii is committed to the thin-line flat color art style for the characters, which looks fine on the box, but in the game, it kind of looks unfinished (also because the colors seem to be lighter for some reason on the avatar than on the item icons)? I think more shading would help it, maybe, or thicker lines (think Gacha Life). Or it could just look like the toys instead, similar to old doll promo games or the Project Mirai promo animations. There could also be some simple animation to indicate the “swapping” mechanic. When you add more items, an option to save looks would also be good. Also strange that you can’t change the character’s skin color when the toys seem pretty diverse in that area. That would also help communicate the idea of Animakii being completely customizable instead of seeming like there is just one character that you dress up. The actual rhythm game is not great… the songs are probably royalty free, and they aren’t that good either. There’s not enough feedback on the note hits in terms of sound effects and animation. The beatmaps also are not very exciting and it’s a little hard to figure out the timing. Something that could be added: maybe when you unlock an item it says what set it’s from? Would probably help promote the toys, maybe. I feel bad leaving a negative review since it seems like this brand is just getting started and is pretty small… I really just want to help you guys out.
