Safety, punctuality and efficiency are all very important in a railway environment. In a real-time environment, conflicts can arise which means one train should stop and give way for another. Having a train come to a complete stop and accelerating again are both time-consuming and energy-inefficient.

Infrabel's Real-Time Traffic Management system can detect these situations and calculate an optimal speed advice which would allow the train to avoid this conflict, thus saving time and energy. These speed advices are then sent to the train driver using the UIC's SFERA standard for maximum international compatibility.
