User Reviews

Reviewers largely love Nimble Quest’s nostalgia and core gameplay and are glad it’s back on the App Store, but the revival is overshadowed by a subscription-only model. The recurring cost is the main gripe, with many stating they’d gladly pay a one-time fee to own the game. Critics also argue the library approach is not desirable and that the release exploits nostalgia for profit. In short: the game is cherished, but the paywall drives disappointment and a preference for ownership over ongoing subscriptions.
Pros
  • Nostalgia and fond memories being rekindled by the comeback.
  • Revival back on the App Store is appreciated by longtime fans.
  • Core gameplay remains familiar and enjoyable for fans of the original.
  • Many reviewers would happily pay a one-time fee to own Nimble Quest.
  • Overall, the game is still a beloved title despite the changes.
Cons
  • Mandatory monthly subscription to play (paywall shuts off access).
  • High recurring cost (about $2.99–$3 per month, potentially $30–$36 per year).
  • Desire for a one-time ownership option rather than ongoing subscriptions.
  • Perceived greed and exploitation of nostalgia to monetize the game.
  • Library-based subscription model (Halfbrick+ library) is unwanted; players want Nimble Quest as a standalone purchase rather than access to a broader, undesired catalog.

I have to subscribe to play the game. I’d rather buy it than pay subscription.

The same game I loved playing more than 10 years ago, but now I can’t just outright play it. Extremely unfortunate.

This used to be my favorite game growing up. When I browsed the App Store and saw it two days ago I was honestly ecstatic. I then read the reviews to only get disappointed. The hour of free gameplay was so much fun and just a great bit of nostalgia for me. But it just isn’t worth getting Halfbrick+. It’s just purely annoying.
