AI Photo Culling — PhotoPicker

Mobile Culling for Lightroom

Features & Capabilities

PhotoPicker is a powerful AI-powered iOS app for photographers who travel light. It analyzes shots for sharpness, blur, closed eyes, duplicates, facial expressions, and motion, helping you pick the best images in seconds — even without an internet connection or importing files.

Cull directly from memory cards, external drives, or the Files app. XMP data is saved alongside your images, ready for import into Lightroom, Capture One, or any editor that supports XMP. It also offers Lightroom Classic integration, custom catalogs, fast compare & review, and seamless manual culling when you want full control.

User Reviews

AI Photo Culling — PhotoPicker is praised for fast, iPad-based culling, strong mobile workflow with quick two-photo comparisons, and generally reliable AI, plus good value and responsive support. Common drawbacks across reviews include flaky external drive support, a non-seamless Lightroom workflow requiring folder exports, trial/billing issues, AI occasional inaccuracies, and limited format support.
Pros
  • Fast, flexible photo culling on iPad that handles large volumes and is great for travel, with easy export/import into Lightroom.
  • Helpful side-by-side photo comparison for quick decisions.
  • AI-assisted selection is generally reliable and helps identify the best shots.
  • Strong value for money with long-term subscriptions and family sharing.
  • Responsive developer and good customer support.
Cons
  • External drives/NAS support is unreliable or non-functional as promised (open button failures; thumbnails not usable).
  • Lightroom workflow is not seamless; direct import from the app isn’t possible—exports to a folder are required.
  • Trial and billing issues, including features not unlocking during trial and charges after cancellation.
  • AI accuracy can vary; it doesn’t always align with the user’s judgment.
  • Limited file format support (e.g., PNG not recognized; other formats may be unsupported).

Fantastic and intuitive. Canceled my weekly subscription immediately so that I could buy the full license.

Incredibly shady trial auto charges an insane price. If you forget about it for a year, it would cost over $200.

Awesome, flexible photo culling tool that works great on it’s own, but is one of the only tools available to seamlessly sort large photo volumes while traveling to then import into Lightroom. Also, the developer is super responsive for extra bonus points. Absolutely worth the money.
