Features & Capabilities

OTP Auth adds support for two-factor authentication to your iPhone and iPad. It works with many services (Dropbox, Facebook, GitHub, Google Mail, and more) to keep your accounts safe with AES-256 encryption, offline operation, and optional encrypted backups.

Key features include an ads-free experience, encrypted iCloud sync, Siri and Apple Watch support, a Notification Center widget, and a Safari extension for pasting passwords. It uses biometric protection (Face ID/Touch ID) and supports easy import/export of encrypted accounts via AirDrop, iCloud, or other methods. Data remains on-device by default and never leaves your device, ensuring privacy and security.

User Reviews

OTP Auth is praised for its simple, clutter-free design, strong privacy, reliable data export/backups, and excellent Apple Watch support. Users also appreciate cross‑device syncing and responsive support. Common drawbacks include concerns about developer activity and updates, cross‑device sync issues (iCloud, Mac, watch), bugs in copying codes from widgets or Shortcuts, a clumsy password‑change flow with password managers, and Mac pricing/feature limits. Overall it’s a solid, privacy‑friendly 2FA app when actively maintained, with reliability tied to ongoing updates and platform stability.
Pros
  • Simple, clean, and feature-complete without bloat.
  • Privacy-friendly with minimal data collection.
  • Great cross‑device syncing and backups (iCloud/encrypted backups) and easy data transfer.
  • Apple Watch support and widgets for quick OTP access.
  • Responsive support and a largely free core experience with optional upgrade to support development.
Cons
  • Perceived developer inactivity or lack of updates / abandonment concerns.
  • Cross‑device sync issues across iCloud, Mac, and Apple Watch.
  • Bugs where OTP codes fail to copy from widgets or Shortcuts.
  • Cumbersome password-change flow when using password managers.
  • Mac version pricing and feature limitations compared to the iPhone/iPad version.

Simple, has every feature you would need. Easy to use, can backup. Its perfect. This is the one to use, not some other limiting application from the usual suspects.

This has been a fantastic app for many years. However, with the lack of updates, I am reluctant to use it. Is this app abandoned? I truly hope not, but understand if so. Thanks either way for making a great app!

Watch complications are broken and the Mac app can’t pull your cloud sync effectively making it broken. If you’re only going to use this on your iPhone, you’ll be ok but you’re much better off finding another app. This dev is MIA
