User Reviews
Pros
- Robust AI-powered language learning tools, including a 24/7 AI tutor, plus videos, flashcards and courses.
- Strong emphasis on speaking and pronunciation, helping users build real-life conversations and confidence.
- Diverse learning formats and interactive features (e.g., generated pictures) that enhance engagement.
- Developed by multilingual creators with experience teaching 4–5 languages.
Cons
- Onboarding is heavy-handed with long questionnaires, immediate paywalls, and prompts to leave reviews before trying the features.
- Pricing and subscription model feel opaque or expensive, with reports of unexpected charges and difficult refunds.
- Performance and cross‑platform issues, including lag, crashes, and Mac compatibility problems.
- Motivational coaching can be overbearing or off-putting for some users.

In short, Learning languages made me able to talk to more strangers when I was in a poor mental state, it saved me from making a bad decision, thank you for this app.

I was hoping for something that was more gamified and helped me build fluency and vocabulary for HSK4 (Mandarin). Unfortunately, the infrastructure just isn’t there for this app. It’s a lot of repeating sentence, but the review function for words is clunky and doesn’t allow you to easily save “decks” of flash cards or group them to review. It attempts to work a bit like Pleco by allowing a copy and paste mechanism, but it’s not as functional.
For speaking review, the AI sometimes doesn’t hear you properly, and you could be repeating a word multiple times and it still says you are wrong. I’m a completionist and this app makes me feel like I am constantly underperforming, not a great feeling.
I think for lower level learners this app might be useful, but for mid-high this wasn’t what I was looking for.
Additionally, when I emailed about cancellation and getting a refund, there was no reply.

The series of questions felt like I was joining a cult. I wanted to see a sample lesson plan, but instead had to answer questions that felt like a self-help seminar. And then I had to commit financially before I saw anything. I just want to learn Spanish, not join a “tribe” on some bizarro app.
