User Reviews

User reviews for The Open on Apple focus on recurring login issues, unstable streaming (timeouts, crashes, freezes), and limited coverage of marquee groups. Onboarding is slow and confusing, and privacy concerns about data sharing are notable. While some praise the concept and occasional high-quality video when it works, reliability and ease of access are the dominant pain points driving dissatisfaction.
Pros
  • When functioning, the app provides live golf video coverage and highlights.
  • The concept gives fans access to marquee groups and live action through the app.
Cons
  • Sign-in loops and authentication failures prevent access to content.
  • Video and audio frequently time out, crash, or freeze, making viewing unreliable.
  • Coverage is limited, with only a subset of groups shown and leaders often unavailable.
  • Registration and sign-in onboarding is slow and cumbersome.
  • Privacy concerns about data sharing with third parties/data brokers.
  • No Apple TV app is available.

Would be real nice to see the end of the tournament while traveling home after spending 4 days on the course. It is dreadful how hard media has made it to watch marquee events. They will eventually subscription us to death!

Championship Sunday and the live feeds (in the US) only follow some middle of the pack players and a par 3 camera. The leaders are on the course, but you won’t get to see them unless they’re on a par 3. Add a broadcast channel to fix this large hole in coverage.

If you are not at home and not on WiFi it is almost impossible to watch the championship. Something is always “wrong” with the connection and you can try and deleting the app and redownloading but it only temporarily fixes the issue and then you’re right back to square one.
