User Reviews

Users broadly praise Aspen Ideas for being intuitive, up-to-date, and a comprehensive, easy-to-navigate source for conference details. The app links speaker bios to sessions, helps users stay organized and on schedule, and has seen enjoyable improvements with its redesign. However, several recurring issues dampen the experience: features from earlier versions like calendar integration and cross-device sync are missing; video content is hard to find or access; there are bugs in attendance syncing; privacy concerns with third‑party permissions; and occasional confusing UI elements.
Pros
  • Intuitive and easy to navigate/use.
  • Up-to-date and comprehensive source for the Aspen conference.
  • Speakers' bios linked to session descriptions for quick context.
  • Helps users stay organized and on time during the event.
  • Positive impressions of the redesign and overall smooth performance.
Cons
  • Missing previously available features: calendar integration with a calendar app and synchronization of schedules across devices.
  • Video access/discovery is poor: no direct links to videos, hard to find full sessions, and limited filtering/sorting options.
  • Attendance/sync bugs: after adding/deleting events, attendees can appear twice and agenda sync can be inconsistent.
  • Privacy concerns: permissions requests (e.g., Facebook/Mobile Roadie friends list) seem irrelevant to festival use.
  • Occasional confusing/unfriendly UI in places, reducing ease of use for some users.
Recent reviews
Several years ago the app had the following capabilities that have since disappeared: 1) one could add agenda items to one’s calendar app. 2) one could sign in such that one’s schedule could synchronize between devices. Additional features that would be valuable would be to set the app to notify me when the video is available. Most conferences allow the attendees to be listed and find each other. That should allow people to opt out (i.e. one would be included by default, but opt in for contact info to be included).

That is all.

Have not been since before Covid so it was a treat to be back with another smorgasbord of ideas, people and opinions with stunning weather to keep the juices, energies and ideas ideas flowing. Most of the speakers were very articulate, knowledgeable and thoughtful if not always thought provoking. You may want to experiment with having a few more of the audience prepared to to challenge or provide contrarian or amplified questions and/ or perspectives beyond some of the interviewers who generally tended to pose predictable questions.
