User Reviews

Overall, Realm of Evil is praised as a fun, visually appealing deck-building game with solid replay value and noticeable potential. Players love the art and the accessible depth, with many suggesting updates could enhance length and feature variety. However, recurring issues include stability bugs that freeze during combat and risk progress loss, insufficient feedback on status effects and event results, and some design frustrations like forced card choices and deck bloating. The absence of story also leaves some players wanting more narrative context. Despite these, the title is considered a hidden gem by many.
Pros
  • Fun, engaging game with solid deck-building and replay value.
  • Beautiful art/style and overall presentation.
  • Easy to pick up with depth that rewards multiple playthroughs.
  • Strong sense of potential and being a hidden gem worth updates.
Cons
  • Stability issues: freezes/crashes during combat and progress loss.
  • Poor status effect feedback and no damage preview.
  • Lack of story/narrative and some empty feeling.
  • Card flow/UI friction: forced card picks and deck bloating; unclear event outcomes.

The artwork is good, but the text is not. I beat the game, and I have no clue what the Speed attribute does, despite it going up by +0.5 every time I leveled up. You have “mana” to spend, but most of your cards are mundane equipment and you’re not a spellcaster. Enemy cards flip by so fast, you can rarely read what they did, and sometimes what they do contradicts what the intention/warning over their head said they were going to do. Event consequences feel arbitrary and inconsistent. In the lategame your level stat boosts matter way more than the cards in your deck, which I guess is good since every victory forces you to add another card to your ever-growing deck. During play the card rewards were repetitive and bland, but then when I beat the game it unlocked more new cards than I’d ever seen during play. Too little too late, as I’d already tired of the game play loop long before it gave me these tools that might have salvaged the game if they’d been offered earlier. The game has potential, but currently does not live up to it.

I like the rogue play even though it’s not for me however, if you can get player versus player and player versus computer that would be nice also with all cards to select from as well as non-rogue mode like a non-survival tower mode for example like playing against artificial/computer players that would be nice. PS when it’s player versus player give it a Bluetooth option not just an online option.
