TRUFob

Received TRUFob as a gift and was excited. Downloaded the free app and successfully paired the device. From there, it was downhill. The instructions are unclear for device hardware features. You can't select the Tag Type in the app. Friendly Places instructions are vague and device alarm does not go off if within the area displayed on the map, regardless of radius set. There is no map displayed if a Friendly Place is not set up, which makes using the device at all very difficult. The alarm sound volume is low. Signal strength falls off dramatically as you move the fob away from your phone making the 30 meter claim dubious. I tried sending a question to the support e-mail and an error message returned with an 'invalid e-mail' address. Thus, I am posting this review for the company to see. The latest press coverage dates on the website are 2013 which makes me wonder if the company is still active and supporting their product. I hope the answer here is not to buy the $30 version of the app.

This doesn't work – It is not worth buying the keyfob because the app does not work. the instructions are very confusing, but there are better instructions on YouTube. I am able to link to the keyfob with no problem. It also detects location easily. However the most critical part of it – setting it into luggage, keys, backpack, etc. mode – will not work. Therefore it will only work if you have both the keyfob and the iPhone in your hand – which destroys the point of having this. It will allow you to take pictures, but you have to open the camera in the app before you can take the picture. I do not see any way that this could be used to locate keys or luggage. The software needs to be updated so it is functional. Specifically users need to be able to set the TAGS OWNED page in the app.
