User Reviews

Players consistently praise Dredge for its stunning visuals, moody atmosphere, and a PC-like mobile port with fluid boat controls and a compelling single-player story. However, multiple reviews flag the high price and pay-to-unlock concerns, a grind-heavy progression that can feel repetitive, and a shorter overall length. Onboarding and platform-specific control quirks also dampen the experience for some. Overall, it shines visually and tonally but’s held back by pricing, content depth, and learning curve issues.
Pros
  • Stunning graphics and atmospheric design with a cosmic horror vibe.
  • Fluid, responsive boat controls and a solid mobile port that plays like the PC version.
  • Engaging, story-driven single-player experience with suspenseful moments.
  • Excellent cross‑platform portability; great on iPad and Mac with smooth resume
  • Easy to pick up and continue where you left off, allowing short or long play sessions
Cons
  • Premium price with perceived low value; many feel the cost (around $20–$25) is too high and/or pay-to-unlock DLC is problematic
  • Grindy progression with repetition; long grind before reaching the end can deter players
  • Short overall length; finished the base game quickly and yearned for more content
  • Onboarding and controls can be confusing; documentation is poor and Mac controls (e.g., lack of middle click) cause friction
  • Apple Arcade/pricing confusion and regional/payment limitations; some users dislike paying for arcade then paying for the game or cannot access in certain regions

Overall it’s a good concept for a game, but feels undercooked in development. Like they ran out of ideas, time, money, or some combination of the sort. Fishing element of the game was fun but I expected it to get progressively harder or require different skills, etc. None of that. Inventory management on the boat was an acceptable element but somewhat tedious as another reviewer commented. Having to get the boat back in at midnight was a fine concept but the time mechanic moved too fast so it was annoying in execution. Storyline had a whole lot of potential but it just never followed thru. Giving it a charitable 4 start but it’s really a 3.5 from me.
