User Reviews

Spotr is praised for its AI-driven workout customization, clean onboarding, and strong progress tracking, with many users appreciating the ability to tweak workouts on the fly and treat it as a more affordable alternative to a personal trainer. The onboarding, UI, and the way it helps plan and log sessions are cited as positives. However, recurring downsides include expensive or opaque pricing with paywalls and auto-charging, a rigid calendar that doesn’t support true phased or alternating plans, limited data export options, some cumbersome logging and AI responsiveness issues, and lack of multi-program support.
Pros
  • AI-driven workout customization and tweaks that adapt to feedback, helping tailor workouts.
  • Strong onboarding and a clean, easy-to-use UI that makes it quick to get started.
  • Effective tracking of workouts with week-over-week progress insights that motivate continued gym sessions.
  • Flexibility to move workouts and modify plans on the fly to fit travel or schedule.
  • Perceived value as a cost-effective alternative to a personal trainer.
Cons
  • Pricing and billing issues, including paid trials, paywalls, and auto-charging without clear cancellation options.
  • Rigid, non-rotating scheduling that lacks true phased or alternating weeks.
  • Poor data-export options; hard to export workouts to PDF/Excel and data dumps are limited.
  • Cumbersome logging flow and inconsistent AI performance (e.g., not recalling previous weights).
  • Lack of multi-program support; starting a new program replaces the current one.

Overall the app is great and I am now using this one after trying several others. It’s currently more geared towards people that know what they are doing in the gym like myself rather than people just starting out. Personally, I really wish the app had built in macro tracking and nutrition info. If it had that and the ability to ask for recipes and have them automatically added to your library then the ability to track all macros, it would be a game changer.

Great App that needs a pdf download of individual workouts or date range of workouts. The text data dump is not very useful. Would love a pdf or excel with the workout results so I can track my progress. You also should be able to have more than one program running at once. Especially if you’re going to change programs. Now if you start a nee program, it removes your current one. Other than that, I love the app.

It’s basically ChatGPT (which is arguably the worse AI model since it wants to agree with what you’re doing) logging your workout. Unfortunately I couldn’t even try it before they wanted a monthly commitment. I love using Coros workout app for the heat map aspect, and thought this would bridge that gap with Garmin. Too bad I can’t confirm.
