Apple Family Sharing: First, set up Apple Family with parents and minor children’s phones (under 18) per Apple’s instructions.

Mobile Safe Zones (MSZ) set-up: On Parent’s Phone: Download the MSZ App from the App Store and choose to begin the free 7-day promotional period or one of the paid subscription options, then complete the associated sign-in. You will receive a few prompts to properly configure the Safe Zones’ system: Send notifications-select ‘Allow’
Review Privacy Policy ‘Sign in as Adult’ using your Apple sign-in credentials Create and name your MSZ family Select ‘Add a child’ Enter name and save Set your Security Pin and save Click ‘Add Child’ A QR code will appear

On Child’s Phone: Download MSZ App from App store. Select ‘Sign-in as Child’ Select ‘Allow camera’ Scan the QR code shown on Parent’s phone. This connects parent and child on the MSZ system. This code is only valid for 30 minutes Tap ‘Request Location Permissions’ Safe Zones location-Tap ‘Allow while using App’ Device location-tap ‘Open Settings’ and choose ‘Always’ Tap ‘Request Family Controls’-select ‘Continue’ for ‘Safe Zones Would Like to Access Screen Time’ Select ‘Allow with iCloud Sign-in’ for Allow Access to Screen Time Enter parent Apple credentials for Parental Approval Required Congratulations!! You are now ready to set your Geofence locations, and the controls are unique to each location.

To add a second parent/adult to your Mobile Safe Zones family, download Mobile Safe Zones to their phone. Go to Family Controls on your phone, and on the top green bar tap the settings icon. Tap ‘Add Adult’, and use the joining parent/adult’s phone to scan the QR code shown.

Geofences and Controls-Set up to 20 geofence locations from either the parent’s or the child’s phone; delete unused locations to free up space. Unique per-location app/website controls must be set on the child’s phone. The parent’s phone can set controls too, but only full-block of all apps and websites - selective allow/block requires the child’s phone.

Voice Calling and Texting-Mobile Safe Zones provides location-based controls for Social Media and other distracting applications and websites. To ensure safe communications at all times, the ‘basic communications’ on your child’s phone are strictly controlled by Apple without connection to geofences. To establish a ‘white list’ of contacts who can call or text your child at certain times of day, use Apple Communication Limits and Downtime in your Apple Family settings. For example, you can limit contacts to ‘parents/key contacts’ only from 9PM through 3PM the next day, to prevent outside texting or calls during sleep time and school time.
