User feedback is largely negative. Repeated issues include instability (crashes, freezing, not opening), frequent sign-in requirements, and broken 'Rooms' and 'Focus' features that block access to messages and grades. The app redirects to external sites and forces using multiple apps, creating a fragmented and confusing workflow. Many callers say the Thrillshare upgrade is worse than the old Bloomz-based system and want a return to the previous app. Accessibility concerns and limited support are also noted. When the app works, it works well. It’s a decent central place for communication with teachers, classroom updates (Rooms), and district news. Rooms and messages have never really given me a problem. They have made some improvements to the sign in process, although it would be great if they could do SSO for some of the related DCPS sites (eg Focus). Previous DCPS apps/websites couldn’t save PW info, so being able to use Face ID to get into app and have my PW savable (at least on iPhone) for the related apps is an improvement. It can sometimes be glitchy, though I think it’s less so than when it was first released. I assume (hope) DCPS is actively working to build and improve the app’s functionality. The search function leaves something to be desired, it’s no different than the website, which returns a lot of announcements and articles that are seemingly never related to my student’s school. I would like to be able to search for menu items in the app, as well as school-specific info; district too, sometimes, I suppose. There just needs to be a way to refine search. As with the website, it’s incredibly hard to get info for just the school I’m interested in. However, I understand that’s an underlying issue with DCPS web navigation/organization, and not specific to app functionality. While it’s not a Cadillac of an app for DCPS, it’s a lot better than having to call the school to leave a message with the teacher, and the messaging section of the app hasn’t given me any problems.
