Directory for Older Adults

The Mona Ageing and Wellness Centre (MAWC), at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, with funding from the IDBLab of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has built this mobile app that provides a directory of services and agencies relevant to older adults.

The suppliers are grouped into categories and into the 14 parishes. The categories include: Agencies, Assisted Living Facilities, Clinics, Doctor’s Offices, Hospitals, Labs, Medical Supplies stores, Nursing homes, Pharmacies, Retirement Homes, Therapy Services, Taxi Services and Training providers.

Once you install the app, select your main parish. Change your main parish any time in settings, to where ever you are in the island, for the day, or planning for the future.

When you select a category, all the suppliers for that category are listed alphabetically or can be listed by parish, where closer parishes are at the top and results go further away. Select on a supplier and you can see the details of their contact and location information. See their address you can visit, see their phone numbers you can tap to call, tap email address to email, tap website to visit their website. Social media pages are also available for suppliers, all there on their supplier page.

The Mona Ageing and Wellness Centre (MAWC), is constantly updating this information, as supplier numbers and address change, and more suppliers are found. Once you are connected to the internet, your information on the devices will be updated.

You do not need internet to use the app to find suppliers.

If you are not connected to the internet, the directory is still on your device, so you can still search for suppliers, and tap to make calls.

About MAWC Mona Ageing and Wellness Centre is the premier institution in the Caribbean for research, teaching, policy influence and outreach in the field of ageing. The centre was established at the Mona Campus of The University of the West Indies in 2005. In the App, the MAWC Tab gives you details about the centre, and easy to reach contact details.

About Day Centre Through funding from the IDBLab of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Mona Ageing and Wellness Centre has established an activity day centre to provide social and mental stimulation for older adults.
