User Reviews

Watch Club blends TV watching with a social, GIF-driven experience, featuring funny, likable characters and a strong, engaging community. Many reviewers praise the concept, the GIF maker, and the Instagram-style flow, with shows and the cast being entertaining. However, repeated concerns center on privacy and data collection (phone number, contacts) and spammy notifications, plus perceived poor UX. Overall, strong content and concept, but significant friction around data privacy and onboarding.
Pros
  • Innovative, interactive concept blending TV viewing with social features (GIF maker) and an Instagram-style flow.
  • Entertaining shows with funny, likable characters and a strong cast.
  • Active, engaged community within the app.
  • GIF maker and social features add a fun, extra dimension to the watching experience.
  • Overall strong content quality and entertainment value.
Cons
  • Requires phone-number login and access to your contacts, raising privacy concerns.
  • Invasive data collection and data-sharing practices (phone number, contacts).
  • Spammy notifications and intrusive, non-optimal UX/interface.
  • Onboarding friction due to login requirements and privacy prompts.
  • Horrible UX / confusing interface as reported by some users.
Recent reviews
Horrible UX and invasive system that wants all your contacts, not cool.

What is this interface— I thought the content was good but then I get spammed notifications nonstop and also I don’t like the idea of giving them all my data

I’m not sure what changed but it’s obvious in the direction of the storytelling and feel of the experience in the app. I will call out I was a big fan of Angsty Asian Support Group so it’s disappointing to see this change.
