User Reviews

Neko Atsume 2 is a cute, nostalgic, and relaxing, family-friendly sim with yard expansions and new items that broaden the original experience. Fans appreciate the adorable cats, soothing vibe, and retro interface, along with the new features. Common criticisms focus on monetization, lack of meaningful new content, sparse interactivity, slow progression, and occasional cat-visit issues. Overall, the app appeals to fans of the original and players seeking a low-stress, cozy diversion.
Pros
  • Cute cat characters and charming art/animations
  • Relaxing, low-stakes gameplay easy to pick up
  • Nostalgic, old-school interface faithful to the original Neko Atsume
  • Yard expansions and new items add variety and progression
  • Family-friendly, mood-boosting experience that many players enjoy
Cons
  • Perceived aggressive monetization and pay-to-play elements
  • Little new content; many items are re-skinned from the first game
  • Limited interactivity; cats are not very interactive and the yard feels static
  • Progress can be slow or difficult to advance
  • Some players report cats not visiting or having trouble attracting cats

I have played the first Neko Atsume for years, and this game is very similar but with more items and different yard expansions. What I always liked about this game is how it’s in real time. You put the food down, then check back throughout your day to see cats. I also love how there’s no ads! Really feels like this should be a paid game… I recommend playing the other games these developers made, too. They’re all great!

The game is basically the same as the first version. There are a number of features that have been added so that players have to spend more money to meet exchange obligations. But there aren’t enough fun new changes—only a few new cats, and the couple of new backgrounds are much uglier than the zen garden. The worst change by far is not being able to buy gold fish using accumulated silver fish. The pressure to spend money is everywhere you look, and literally required in order to see all the cats. It’s a violation of everything that made the game feel so gentle and good.
