User Reviews

ArcadeMania is a capable iOS MAME frontend with strong ROM management, iCade support, and good performance, earning praise for its ease of use and nostalgia factor. However, users repeatedly report limited ROM compatibility, audio glitches, input/controls frustrations, stability issues, and notable feature gaps (no netplay, accelerometer, or flexible button layouts). Overall, it’s a solid, enjoyable option for arcade emulation that needs broader game support, improved stability, and more control options.
Pros
  • Excellent ROM import and auto-organization with game title screens, avoiding a bare file list.
  • Supports iCade arcade hardware and offers full artwork for cabinets.
  • Performs well on many games (near full FPS in some titles) and is easy to use.
  • Active development with regular MAME core updates.
  • Nostalgic, straightforward MAME frontend that simplifies setup.
Cons
  • Limited ROM compatibility: only a fraction of games work, with many not playable.
  • Audio issues: laggy or glitchy sound across multiple games.
  • Input/controls problems: Bluetooth controller pairing can be flaky; right-stick issues; touchscreen controls can be unplayable for some games.
  • Stability problems: app crashes on certain devices or during import/settings changes.
  • Missing features and control flexibility: no netplay, no accelerometer, limited button configurations (e.g., 4 vs 6 buttons), and other UI/UX gaps.

----- revised review below ----- ... judging from its awful logo/icon thumbnail. Design 101: keep it simple! (The app icon is so over complicated with detail many won't even be able to see so small. Just keep the pixelated title and one button or stick.) It is comprehensive though. However, there seems to be no accelerometer option. That really matters for an iOS app. That said, in full screen mode the joystick/move control (invisible which is fine and preferred) doesn't work right! It doesn't hold in position. Unplayable as is. Some requests: - A dial or steering wheel option is essential. - Separate haptic feedback option between joystick and buttons. - Option for different color buttons. Yes fire buttons were usually red, but many arcade games had white, yellow, or black buttons too. - Why blank menu icons for the roms? Where is the artwork import for that? Suggestion: Have three control panel options: - Joystick with two buttons (it's too cluttered and unecessary with six, and aesthetically awful!) - Dial/Wheel with pedal and shifter (of course for all the racing games and otherwise for dial) - Buttons only (here you can have six, as ultimate classics like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids' for example did not have a joystick) * Configuration options navigation with hyper-sensitive joystick is awful untenable DEFECTIVE! ---

All is ok but why there is no netplay option? We can’t play multiple and challenge 1vs1
