Review summary

Overall, users find Poker Trainer to be solid and beginner-friendly with thorough content and good support. However, recurring concerns include questionable or unrealistic strategic guidance and shallow range depth, plus bugs in exercises and billing/refund problems. Some UX issues persist, notably audio controls and post-flop presentation. Despite these drawbacks, many see it as a strong learning tool and a solid value compared with competitors.
Pros
  • Beginner-friendly and helpful for new players.
  • Comprehensive training content with broad coverage of poker concepts.
  • Responsive customer support and founder engagement.
  • Well-made app with strong value for serious players.
  • Accessible without paying upfront to explore and learn.
Cons
  • Billing and subscription issues, including unexpected charges and refunds.
  • Strategy guidance can be unrealistic or too tight and lacks accurate range depth.
  • Bugs and reliability problems in training exercises (e.g., mismatched board descriptions, pot-odds bug).
  • Audio/UI limitations, such as no mute/volume control and limited post-flop UX.

2026-07-12 Mi***** This might be the dumbest app ever invented. One could only hope to play against someone who follows this raise/call/fold chart.

2026-06-23 Ja***** What the heck did you do to the training setup page?… Why do you keep messing with it?… I’m trying to learn but I’m spending most of the time figuring out how to set up my parameters. You guys keep doing this. It’s getting very frustrating.

2026-04-27 Ja***** I had a royal flush draw and bet the flop, opponent called. Then bet the turn and faced an at least 8x jam and the app told me to call as a semi-bluff. I mean like what the hell. Way to tell me this is a scam.

2026-02-23 Fl***** While this is a fun little game to get introduced to some very basic concepts, it is lacking the range detail which results in training to be TOO tight. For example, with 100BB, in UTG+1, facing an UTG open, one may call sometimes with pocket 9s; this app demands a fold in that spot. With > 100BB, set mining can be profitable in this spot, if played properly post flop.

2026-01-27 Me***** This is great to teach a grind game, but honestly, i question when it tells me to call an all-in check raise from ep3 with a flush on the board and I’m holding a straight. I dont think thats realistic in a 2/5 cash game especially with questionable equity. So it has some holes.

2026-01-15 Ne***** Great App but this new simulator ruined the post flop exercise. I would like to disable seeing the hypothetical players cards and just see if I am making a good decision based on that board like the odd post flop exercise.

2025-11-21 Ke***** I’ve tried at least three or four different apps and this one seems to be the best by far. I even emailed the support email a question and the founder responded to me so there’s great customer support. I think it’s well worth the money if you plan on taking Poker serious. Very well made app

2025-09-29 At***** I’d like the ability to watch Picture in Picture whilst I learn. However, since there is no option to mute the sound FX, I am unable to do so.
