User Reviews

MiniMoon is a fast, feature-rich offline player with strong cross‑platform syncing, an album-centric design, robust metadata editing, and solid local-library support. Its strengths are speed, UI polish, and a one‑time purchase model. Common concerns center on artwork handling, inconsistent lyrics support, and various UX quirks/navigation gaps. Overall, it’s highly regarded for offline reliability and a refined music‑management experience, with room for improvement in artwork, lyrics consistency, and UI polish.
Pros
  • Cross-platform syncing between Mac and iOS (and Windows) is easy and reliable.
  • Fast, responsive playback with smooth gestures and a polished, intuitive UI.
  • Album-centric design with in-app metadata editing for organizing and managing music.
  • Excellent support for local libraries and offline playback, including formats like FLAC and opus, scalable for large collections.
  • One-time purchase unlocking the full version provides good value.
Cons
  • Artwork/cover art handling is inconsistent: imported tracks can show very low-quality artwork or lack embedded art, and editing artwork/metadata is sometimes gated behind a paywall.
  • Lyrics support is inconsistent: embedded lyrics or syncing across formats is not reliably available, with some reports of no embedded lyrics.
  • Multiple UX/feature gaps and quirks: examples include a Most Played item bug, unclear album tab sorting, inability to reorder top tabs, and several navigation-related annoyances that users want addressed.

The app feels quite nice, it would be nice to be able it to pull from a local dnla server to bypass the stupid apple devices path altogether. One thing that is missing is a CarPlay šŸ‘ I found a few bugs that are quite critical to having a great experience. The random button does not work. It will play the original track that you selected many times. If you click on a track within an album and hit random to play the album in a different order the tracks will play like 5>9>5>7>7>5>5>5>2. Secondly the queue next button doesn’t work as it will insert the track in a random place in the queue. I really like this app but these features are quite essential for me so it’s important that they function.

Really good player but not having the ability to make playlists is a huge dealbreaker

seems like a good player, it’s just that whenever i import any music, the player makes the artwork of all of them VERY low quality, and that’s just a big gripe for me. otherwise id be using this all the time
