This former Apple Arcade favorite is back and better than ever! When the house goes dark, everyday objects awaken as mischievous spirits called yōkai and they love to battle.

Forge Your Creature Combine household items—from umbrellas and staplers to cheese graters—to build your own spirit creature.

Battle in the Dark Play solo or gather up to three friends for co-op chaos! Battle house spirits, explore eerie rooms, and uncover the secrets lurking in every corner.

Have you ever heard something go bump in the night? Perhaps you’ve caught wind of a spirit or sprite. When the house is asleep, and there’s dark all around, spirits from objects awake and abound.

The spirits are crafty and like to cause trouble. They're called yōkai and together, they double. Mixing and mashing, they join to fight. Can you help them conquer this mysterious night?

Play with one person, two, three or four. First you’ll need to escape the dark junk drawer.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In Things That go Bump, familiar objects and rooms come to life every night, and nothing looks quite as does in the day. Create your creature, and battle your friends, but beware the house spirits! They can destroy and they can give life. Battle, create, and make your way through the rooms of the house, and slowly you will unravel the secret of Things that Go Bump.

User Reviews

Players broadly enjoy the game's family-friendly, nostalgic charm and find it generally entertaining (2, 11, 14). However, monetization and paywalls are common grievances (4, 8, 10, 12, 14), along with some noted difficulty in progression (1, 4) and frequent requests for more content (3, 7). Overall sentiment is positive about the concept, but the pay model and content depth are the main pain points.
Pros
  • Family-friendly appeal with a nostalgic/retro vibe that resonates with kids and parents (reviews 2 and 14)
  • Overall enjoyable gameplay and positive reception among players (reviews 2, 11, and 14)
  • Content breadth and potential for expansion (mentions of various rooms/minigames and requests for more content in reviews 3 and 7)
Cons
  • Monetization/paywalls restricting progression or access to rooms/finishing the game (reviews 4, 8, 10, 12, 14)
  • Difficulty level can feel punishing or hard to progress (reviews 1 and 4)
  • Requests for more content/expansion (more rooms/bosses) indicate gaps in free content (reviews 3 and 7)

Over all it’s a fun game of battles. But you need to pay for all the rooms. And in the story mode I attacked the gatekeeper so many times I sill can’t defeat it.(WHY!?)
