BTS for KATANA Gen 3 connects your BOSS KATANA Gen 3 to an iPhone or iPad over Bluetooth to edit amps and effects using Tone Edit, and to organize sounds with Tone Librarian.

It also provides integrated access to the Boss Tone Exchange, letting you share your original Livesets and download others' tones from around the world. Note: An active internet connection is required for Tone Exchange, and pairing requires KATANA Gen 3 (Version 1.06 or later) and the BT-DUAL adaptor. The app guides you through Bluetooth setup after launch.

Overall, the BTS app can dramatically enhance Katana Gen 3 tone design via deep editing, extra FX, and Tone Exchange, especially when the Bluetooth link is stable. Users praise easy pairing and intuitive controls in some setups and describe a powerful, flexible workflow that beats PC-based editing. However, widespread usability frustrations persist: a dated, non-intuitive UI; missing landscape mode for iPad; unreliable Bluetooth connectivity and save/backups; occasional library loss and sign-out issues; and concerns about paying for the Bluetooth dongle. It can be excellent when it works, but usability problems limit adoption.

If you can get past the outdated/slightly confusing user interface then this app is great! Additional FX and extra parameters in the app make dialing tones that much more fun. With all the extra control you get in the app, the Bluetooth module is very worth it. Just wish they would overhaul the UI. I want landscape mode on my iPad!

Download this app if you want to spend all your practice time screwing around with an incredibly poorly designed piece of software that evades all intuition and casual attempts at understanding what should be a very straightforward function. Get ready to spend hours fussing with this before giving up and wasting even more time taking a tutorial.
