Enclave shines offline, with strong privacy and flexible model sourcing, and runs well on older devices. However, recurring issues reduce reliability: crashes with downloaded models, hallucinations and weak long-context handling, awkward model management, and unclear compatibility with some local models. These trade-offs are consistent across multiple reviews.

Excellent offline/on-device performance for conversations, usable without internet.

Supports downloadable/custom models from Hugging Face, offering model flexibility.
Highly efficient on mobile hardware, running well on older devices with limited RAM.

Cons

Crashes when loading downloaded or third-party models.
Hallucinations and difficulty maintaining a train of thought / long-context reasoning.
Clunky model management and settings: hard to delete models and unclear navigation for settings.
Unclear/limited compatibility with certain local models and Hugging Face options leading to unreliable performance.

The new update completely made app non functional system fails to start working

to start, love the way you can install your own gguf’s from hugging face, because some other LLM apps simply do not give you such freedom. it also doesn’t have ads and tracking. but i believe if you could include an optional voice mode that uses the Kokoro voice generation model, voice mode would be more realistic than regular on-device voices. please consider my idea, and as always this is my go to local ai app—so happy i found this app!!
