User Reviews

Reviews praise lurkur for being ad-free, login-free, and beginner-friendly with a clean, minimalist interface and subreddit import. However, users repeatedly report crashes, hangs, slow loads, broken search/filters, and media playback problems, making reliability the major concern. Overall, it’s a promising lurking-focused Reddit reader that shines when it works but suffers from stability issues across updates.
Pros
  • Ad-free experience with no login, offering a privacy-friendly Reddit browsing
  • Lurk-friendly, minimalist UI that keeps the focus on content and allows subreddit import
  • Viewed as a good replacement for other Reddit apps (e.g., Apollo) with clean design and no ads
  • Tablet-optimized and generally stable when it works, with a responsive feel
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability; force quits are common
  • Performance issues like hangs, slow load times, and non-responsive behavior after backgrounding
  • Search and filtering features often broken; results not tappable and filters not functioning
  • Media playback issues: videos pause unexpectedly, audio problems, and inconsistent sound
  • Connection/undefined errors that disrupt usage and frustrate users

I deleted my 12 year old Reddit account a while back, got tired of the “karma” and updooting and whatnot. Decided to give this a try, it’s a great concept and I like the ability to not comment and give out votes but this app has some things not great. Like it seems to stop responding if you go to another and come back it it, it won’t scroll or click or anything so you are forced to close it and reopen it. A lot of connection errors where it just shows some string or code. And they search feature is funny, Reddit was never known for having a great search engine so maybe that’s the issue

seemed like it would be a nice reddit client to use until i found that i could not default comments to old. i mean who says which are best, hot, controversial? the users, of course. unfortunately, that's not how everyone consumes media. nobody goes to the best movie scene, hottest book chapter. you wouldn't know what's going on if you did. same with comments. i like to know what is being replied to. app deleted.
