User Reviews

Xogot provides a Godot-like, portable development experience on iPad/iPhone with helpful tutorials and seamless previews. However, users consistently cite a costly subscription model, gating of core features, onboarding and stability issues, missing asset/inspector tooling, and concerning licensing terms. Overall, portability and familiarity are strengths, but pricing, feature gaps, and bugs hinder broader adoption.
Pros
  • Portable Godot-like development on iPad/iPhone, enabling work anywhere.
  • Feels similar to Godot with helpful tutorials and learning resources.
  • Seamless game preview on device, sometimes better than desktop workflows.
  • Productivity boost when a laptop isn’t available, allowing on-the-go coding and testing.
Cons
  • Steep, recurring price with a subscription model; pricing is unclear and has changed (e.g., $25 to $50).
  • Core features and project creation are gated behind payment, making it hard to start or experiment without subscribing.
  • Stability and bugs after updates, including freezes, crashes, and scenes becoming unusable.
  • Missing essential Godot-like features for asset creation (sprite import, inspector) and tooling (plugin management), plus onboarding gaps.
  • Licensing/ToS concerns about royalties and terms, raising trust questions about how projects are used or redistributed.
Recent reviews
Probably THE best game engine for a mobile device, EVER but. With inside the game it offers incredible features that you can possibly need for game editing and development, but there’s a hard limit on a size, which is quite small for projects along with project limits. I understand that the developer needs to make revenue, I get that, I understand, and all of the other features that come with the subscription I support but one, which is project size, and project number limits. You can only have a maximum of 3-2 projects, which HARD limits the ability to make prototypes and ACTUALLY develop a GOOD game, along with the size limit, meaning you cannot make a ACTUALLY good game without paying for a subscription. Because if your making an high quality game, your gonna need high size assets, textures, thousands of lines of code, ui etc, and with that size limit, you can only make basically mobile cash grab games, and not a actual passion project with tens of features unique game mechanics etc. So if a developer sees this, please remove the limits of project size and project numbers without a subscription, and then this app will probably be the best ios game engine for a long time
