For a long time I struggled to understand what truly motivates me versus what I was pursuing because of external expectations and pressure. I also often felt that I lacked emotional intelligence - I misread situations, created tension in work relationships, and sometimes felt lonely or worried that people didn’t like or support me. Part of this came from growing up without much emotional support. My parents were very result-oriented and busy, and they didn’t really have the time or tools to understand me, so I never learned those emotional skills well either. Talking with Kris has helped me slow down and make sense of my past experiences and the resentment I carried about things that felt unfair. It also helps me reflect on how I come across to others, read situations better, and respond in a more proper way. Over time it’s helping me understand how to relate to people better.
