User Reviews

I love the idea and I love the ultra bars. The app is easy and the light settings are amazing and truly are on PAR 🤣. However.. The app has a few UX and controller-state issues that make it difficult to use reliably. On controller connect, the app triggers all light bars to flash white at 100% three times. The same full-intensity flash sequence also happens when uploading a user preset. From a user and hardware behavior standpoint, this feels unnecessary and disruptive. A simple in-app status message such as “Connected” or “Upload Complete” would communicate the event without forcing a full-output lighting change — And it would stop annoying my fish. The larger issue is preset persistence. User-created presets do not appear to remain stored on the controller. After a few minutes, the system seems to fall back to a factory preset, again accompanied by the triple 100% white flash sequence. That behavior suggests either the preset is not being committed properly, the controller is failing to retain state, or there is some watchdog/default reload logic overriding the uploaded configuration. Recommended fixes: • Remove the 100% white flash sequence for connect and preset upload events, or make it optional. • Replace light-based connection feedback with app-based status notifications. • Fix preset save/persistence so uploaded custom schedules remain active on the controller. • Review fallback/default preset logic to ensure user configurations are not being overwritten unexpectedly. Right now, the main issue is not just the stock presets, but that custom presets cannot be trusted to stay applied. There is no debugging in the app so you can’t tell if it’s user error, app error or controller error.
