User Reviews

PatchScan is a promising tool for patch traders and events like Jamboree, offering quick scan-based patch information. However, many reviews report unreliable scanning, lack of manual entry, outdated iOS support, and data accuracy issues, which hinder its usefulness. Users call for updates, broader functionality, and better data integrity to realize its full potential.
Pros
  • Great idea and very handy for patch traders, especially at events like Jamboree.
  • When it works, the scanner is fast and provides useful patch details.
  • Offers quick access to patch information to help avoid bad trades.
  • Valuable digital reference that can enhance trading conversations at events.
Cons
  • Camera/QR scanning frequently fails and won’t read codes reliably, especially on newer devices.
  • No manual capture or search/logging feature when a patch can’t be scanned.
  • App feels outdated and not updated for current iOS versions.
  • Patch data can be inaccurate or inconsistent across variants, leading to confusion.
  • Limited support/reporting for missing or incorrect patch info.

I have been trading in BSA for a few years now and have been using the scanner ever sence I had been told about it during a jamboree . I was hoping this app would make it faster and add the availablity logging my patches. Sadly, the scanner didn't recognize any of the patches QR codes as QR codes like the site does. I hope this can be fixed soon.

The camera doesn’t want to find the QR code and then is pointless, the website is good though.

Good idea though app doesn’t scan codes anymore and doesn’t have a search bar like the browser version does
