Features & Capabilities

iTrace makes handwriting practice engaging for preschool to early elementary students. Through guided tracing of letters, numbers, words, and shapes, children learn correct stroke order and fine-motor skills. It supports print and cursive, uppercase and lowercase, left- and right-handed modes, and multiple handwriting styles (Zaner-Bloser, Handwriting Without Tears, and D’Nealian). With 350+ words, custom word lists with photos and voice recordings, and progress-based rewards, practice stays motivating.

Designed for teachers and parents, iTrace provides multi-student management, personalized goals, and progress tracking for classrooms or homeschooling. It includes printable worksheets, offline practice, and bilingual support (English and Spanish). A free version provides core content with a subscription unlocking full access, and the app is ad-free with privacy-first data handling.

User Reviews

Users praise iTrace for teaching correct handwriting with a calm, focused interface, clear instructions, and a logical progression that grows from letters to words. The app is valued for its multi-user support, progress tracking, and motivating rewards, plus the ability to print worksheets and align digital and paper practice. Left-handed users benefit, and short on-the-go sessions make it a practical daily tool. Some critiques center on updates that users felt were too hard and on paid content restricting full alphabet access, but the core handwriting-focused approach remains the app’s strongest draw.

  • Clear instructions and a calm, distraction-free experience
  • Progressive, well-paced progression from letters to words

I had a weekly subscription set up and it kept locking the content. I decided to try and buy the lifetime subscription to see if it would help and everything is still locked. I’m honestly irritated bc they don’t really even give you a way to reach out to resolve this issue.

We’ve only been using it a few weeks, but the structure is really solid. The tracing guides are accurate and easy for kids to follow.
