Meet New Books

This app is so so so good. Way better than Goodreads. It helps me find specific tags of things I like, like “gothic castle” and “reincarnation”. Lets me hide authors that don’t fit my tastes/go against my trigger warnings. It also refreshes so easily with better recs & even lets me tag them as “not interested”, “did not like”, “loved”, etc.

I have found a couple of new books to read off this app, and I do love the idea of it overall. But there are a few of things that would really just make it overall a better app I think. 1 - you can’t currently follow authors you like, which is a bit annoying. It would be nice if you could follow favorite authors that you regularly read. 2 - the way the lists are set up and just the overall user interface of the app is not great. Pages will refresh and you’ll lose your spot when looking on their lists, and your lists are very hard to easily reorganize because of the way they’re set up. 3 - it would be really nice if you could say exactly why you didn’t want to read a book or why you did, if you could add in tags you like and tags you don’t manually into the algorithm somehow. I do really feel like that would improve both book recs and searches. Currently it just guesses why you don’t want to read a book when you tag it as not interested, which is unfortunate if everything about the book sounded wonderful except one small part, and so adding it to that list without a reason can mess with your algorithm.
