User Reviews

Shapez on iOS is beloved for its addictive, deep factory-building gameplay and charming visuals with a soothing soundtrack. However, the mobile port is fraught with stability and input problems, intrusive paywalls, and inconsistent progression. Players repeatedly cite crashes, severe FPS drops, overheating, and lost saves, alongside stubborn pop-ups and unlock prompts. Touch controls on iPad can be unreliable, and progression often feels disjointed. Despite these issues, fans praise the core mechanics and find the game highly rewarding when stable, suggesting a well-optimized mobile version could unlock its full potential.
Pros
  • Addictive and highly engaging gameplay described by multiple reviewers as hours of fun and even “unbelievably addictive.”
  • Charming art style with soothing music that many find calming and pleasant.
  • Long-term, endless gameplay once the full version is unlocked, appealing to fans of the genre.
  • Deep puzzle/management mechanics that appeal to players who enjoy material management and process-focused gameplay.
Cons
  • Severe performance and stability issues: frequent crashes, very low FPS (often around 1), overheating, and loss of save progress.
  • Intrusive paywalls and pop-ups that interrupt gameplay and block access to features (e.g., locked content and unre removable prompts).
  • Poor mobile port experience: uncalibrated or slow touch controls on iPad, lack of Apple Pencil support, and general input issues.
  • Disjointed progression design: challenges feel disconnected from each other with heavy rebuilds and little incentive to keep previous lines, plus reward/persistence concerns.
  • Widespread bugs/glitches that hinder play (tunnels misbehaving, level skipping, UI glitches) and offline/save issues leading to lost progress.

I love this game I’ve been playing for around 3 hours so far and it is a vary addictive loop. Build factory, upgrade factory to make it more efficient, and repeat. Absolutely an amazing and fun game loop. A must buy for getting rid of boredom

Ok, so, I have always enjoyed shape. I hope. I’ve been playing the demo one cool math games, and when I found out there was a mobile port I was ecstatic! One gripe though. I wish there was a way to place multiple of everything at once. That existed in the original game, and I don’t see why it shouldn’t carry over too. It’s still fun, but I would recommend the download, but I would recommend the non-mobile version unless you really wanna play it portably. Other than that, it’s a good game.

I have been a big fan of this game since 2020 and would recommend it to anyone. I feel like it is incredibly impressive that the creator was able to port a mouse and keyboard game to a touchscreen and it still feels satisfying to play. However there are a few things that can be bothersome to work around but again, it’s a mouse and keyboard game ported to your mobile phone.
