Features & Capabilities

Why I built this App

I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease fifteen years ago, and like many, I've spent countless days trying to make sense of what my body is telling me. Over the years, I downloaded app after app, hoping to find something that would help me track my symptoms and spot patterns. But every single one felt like it was designed by someone who'd never actually lived with IBD. They asked me to rate things on arbitrary scales that made no sense. How do you rate the urgency of getting to the toilet from 1 to 10? What does a 7 even mean, and should it be 7 or 8?

After years of frustration with overcomplicated trackers that felt more like homework than helpful tools, I realised something: I'm a developer. I could build something better. Not something crammed with features that sound good in a marketing pitch, but something that actually reflects how we experience this condition day to day. Something simple. Something honest. Something you can use when you're feeling awful and just need to record what's happening without jumping through hoops.

So I built this app for myself first, and then I realised it might help others too. It cuts through the nonsense and focuses on what actually matters when you're managing IBD. No complicated rating scales. No unnecessary complexity. Just a straightforward way to track your symptoms and understand your patterns. Because here's what I've learned from fifteen years of doctor appointments: they don't need pages of detailed statistics and colour-coded charts. They need to know the basics. Are things getting better or worse? What are the trends? Having something clear and simple to show them is far more valuable than a spreadsheet full of data points.

With all that said, if you need a spreadsheet full of data points my app will allow you to generate a .csv file that you can easily import in to your spreadsheet program of choice should you want to crunch the numbers. With a two week trial that gives you access to all the features what have you got to lose? Download IBD Diary today and see if it's a fit for you.
