Review summary

Users praise Eurovision Sport for giving Biathlon fans access on iPad and Apple TV and note improvements across devices with a loyal user base. However, repeated issues dominate: intrusive ads disrupt playback; AirPlay/casting is unreliable; playback controls are limited and resuming is difficult; the app crashes or freezes, and navigation/UI usability plus login friction hinder usage. Many want an ad‑free option and more QA before updates.
Pros
  • Provides Eurovision biathlon coverage on iPad and Apple TV, expanding access for fans
  • Users report cross‑device improvements and reliable mirroring/casting to TV
  • Loyal user base with frequent usage on iPad and positive sentiment from fans
Cons
  • Intrusive ads disrupt playback, with unskippable ads and a demand for an ad‑free paid option
  • AirPlay/Casting issues are persistent—streams drop, buffer, or crash, and updates can worsen it
  • Playback controls and navigation are limited or awkward (no easy fast‑forward/rewind; resuming is hard)
  • App stability issues—crashes, freezes, and video cutouts, especially after updates
  • Navigation/UI usability problems (tedious browsing, small fonts on Apple TV) and login friction

2026-03-04 iK***** I am big fan of Eurovision Sport app and use it all the time on my iPad. I was properly excited when you come up with AppleTV version. However in current form it is bloody useless. I can navigate the app. I can start playing the content i like. But i can not fast forward/pause/rewind. Basically once playback starts , the only thing I can do is to stop it. Please fix it soon. Until then, will have to use my iPad.

2026-01-31 re***** I installed this app on my Apple TV and was excited to see there was finally an app for this but after testing it out there are several disappointing issues. The first one being that you can’t skip the first ad once the skip ad button shows up in the lower right corner so you end up hearing this ad way too many times. The second issue is that you can’t fast forward to a specific point of the replay so you have to watch the entire race. I usually fast forward ten minutes in to when the races actually start and can do this on my computer/phone but not on the Apple TV app. The third frustrating feature is not being able to pay a small fee to not be shown ads at all. I would be willing to pay monthly to not have to watch ads during the replays. I look forward to some more user friendly and functional updates in the future.

2026-01-10 Em***** Can’t fast forward, if you accidentally exit an event you can only start over from the beginning, including the add, and 30 minutes of pre-race. So frustrating I gave up on the app.

2025-12-06 te***** I used this app last year when biathlon World Cup was switched to this service. It was decent last year but had no “smart tv” app version. They seem to have worked this out as the app is working on my Apple TV but now they have obnoxiously annoying ads that play through the broadcasts. It offers a “skip ad” button after 5 seconds of the app, similar to YouTube other free streamers. However the button to “skip ad” is not functioning. You can not click it and so the viewer is left with horribly annoying and VERY LOUD advertisements with a button mocking you to skip the ad but it’s not physically possible. Please please work this issue out.

2025-12-03 Mr***** With the Apple TV app, I’m not able to skip ads and the ads play over the video content I want to watch. Also, I have to walk over to the TV to read the menu because the font is so tiny.

2025-11-29 Co***** Edit 29 Nov 2025: watched a few minutes of the replay of the first biathlon race of the season on my iPad, then the video cut out saying there was a technical error with the stream. It plays just fine on my iPhone with the same wifi, same account. I tried watching a different video, exiting the app, logging out and back in, and finally deleting and reinstalling the app; all with no luck. The old way of watching worked perfectly fine, I don’t understand how you’ve managed to turn watching biathlon into such a miserable experience. Edit 5 Dec 2024: according to the analytics logs, the app is being terminated by iOS because it’s using too much cpu when running in the background. It appears to work fine when the screen is on and the app is in the foreground. But when the device goes to sleep, the app dies 48 seconds later. So if you want to use Airplay, keep the device from going to sleep somehow? Same outcome when plugged in and on battery. iOS 18.1.1 Edit 2 Dec 2024: Response to developer’s response: I tried watching the replay of the first event of the biathlon World Cup season. I connected with Airplay, and the race hadn’t even started yet before the app crashed. I appreciate the effort though. Original review: Airplay constantly cuts out after a few minutes and causes the app to crash. Then I have to restart the app, re-find the video I was watching (see below for more on that), and then find where I was in the video because the app doesn’t keep track for me. For the short time airplay is working, trying to rewind the video at all makes the playback hiccup every few seconds. Navigating the sports/events is a big pain. I have to scroll past sports I don’t care about (you made me create an account, why I can’t I specify that I just want to watch biathlon?), scroll past upcoming events (I’ll watch those 3 weeks from now when they actually happen), then find the particular video I want (again, I have an account, why can’t you keep track of what I’ve watched and make it easy to find what’s next?) None of that would be a dealbreaker if it weren’t for Airplay crashing, but since I have to do it all 4 times just to get through one video, it gets old.

2025-10-23 Sq***** It will only work in the portrait direction, and not landscape. Half the app is off the screen. Not very Apple friendly.
