User Reviews

Threadalog is a comprehensive, mobile-friendly embroidery inventory and project tracker that handles multiple thread brands with quantities, shopping lists, and pattern linkage. Users praise its breadth, organization, and responsive support, plus flexible payment options. The main drawbacks are catalog gaps (missing brands and discontinued threads), no cloud syncing across devices, limits of the free version, and a learning curve during onboarding. A few note occasional upgrade/pre-purchase confusion.
Pros
  • Comprehensive inventory and project management across multiple thread brands, with quantity tracking, shopping lists, and easy pattern/project linking.
  • User-friendly, intuitive interface optimized for mobile, with easy color filtering and a helpful user guide.
  • Strong developer support and rapid updates; responsive to feature requests and quick thread catalog updates.
  • Flexible pricing options, including a lifetime purchase option alongside a subscription, offering good value.
  • Great cross-referencing between owned threads and patterns, and effective tools for shopping and planning purchases.
Cons
  • Incomplete thread catalog (missing some brands and discontinued threads; users sometimes must request additions).
  • Lacks cloud sync across devices, making cross-device use less seamless.
  • Free version limitations (restricted brands and features unless upgrading).
  • Learning curve for new users; onboarding can be confusing before getting the hang of the app.
  • Occasional confusion around upgrading or visibility of features before purchase.

I purchased Threadalog for the ability to track my floss and I love it for that, but after a few weeks I decided to move my PDF patterns and those I took pictures of from my paper patterns and decided to catalog them. What turned from simple organization has become my new cross stitch best friend. I now use this app for marking off my patterns. I was previously using Markup-RXP but it was too much of a POA when I wanted to upload an image of a pattern. Now all I do is take the image turn it into a pdf and Viola! I can use that to mark off. If I’m feeling especially lazy I can just upload the picture and mark that off. I also love the fact I can back up to the cloud and use this app on my phone and iPad. It’s totally worth the $14.99 annually.

This app needs a few things. I like the fact that you can add Threads to a shopping list, but I don’t like the fact that once you buy that thread and you click it and mark it as purchased, it doesn’t add it to your inventory. You have to manually add the thread to your inventory even after you’ve marked it purchased from your shopping list and I think that is an extra step that’s unnecessary.
