My reliable tenants who have been paying on time want to establish a good credit history to qualify for a mortgage. Split Pay takes advantage of their need and ruins their former on time pay history. My tenants deposited their money with Split Pay on Tuesday the 2nd, but Split Pay held the money until the weekend then blamed bank weekend closure for a VERY LATE rent deposit. The deposit won’t arrive in my bank until the 10th!!!! That’s criminal to take advantage of well meaning tenants with a false promise of on time payments to landlords. I simply will not accept being paid 8 days late every month while my good tenants pay high charges for bad service and false promises. It’s a scam.

The setup was extremely simple. Couldn’t have asked for much simpler, honestly, so kudos to them for that. Here’s where my issue lies, it’s the fact that it said it would be split after my apartment management initiated. So here we are, management notified me that they’ve initiated, but my account shows a transaction for the full amount. I don’t know, maybe I’m not aware of “the fine print” somewhere, but I was under the impression that my rent was going to be split as the name implies. The only reason this isn’t getting one star is I’m hoping this is a one-off situation and doesn’t become a recurring issue.

I used this app for over a year to help manage my rent payments, but my recent experience has completely changed my view of this company. After a temporary loss of income, I paid later than usual. That’s when the problems started. First red flag: I had to speak with multiple agents, and every single one gave me different information. As soon as I paid my late balance, my split‑pay privileges were suddenly revoked with no clear explanation. Second red flag: The customer service is not solution‑oriented. The agents were dismissive, and essentially told me “too bad.” I was informed I could never use the service again, despite being a long‑time user. To make matters worse, when I called their customer service line, an automated message said, “You no longer have access to this service. Goodbye,” and then hung up on me. Overall, this company offers no flexibility, no support, and no second chances—even for loyal customers who hit a temporary hardship. I would not recommend relying on this service long term.
