Review summary

Reviews show Unagent generally functions as advertised, with users noting reliability and usefulness in IT contexts. However, a recurring issue is that changing the user agent does not stop sites from fingerprinting browsers, so many sites still present mobile versions or restrict access. A few users also report crashes or management annoyances (e.g., deleting per-site rules) and privacy questions, but the main limitation is the persistent detection tech.
Pros
  • Works as promised / generally functional
  • Helpful for IT workflows / appreciated by IT professionals
Cons
  • Changing the user agent does not prevent site detection; websites still render the mobile version or block content, limiting practical benefit

2025-12-15 Ap***** Didn't work to display Yahoo mail desktop version in iOS Safari, despite trying multiple preset desktop user agents. Also, the app description and privacy section say it doesn't collect any data, but it seems to require a permission toggled on giving access to webpage content itself to work.

2025-09-26 Ja***** This will pay for itself with just one booking on Priceline, which charges several dollars per night more if you have a safari string in your browser. You can even toggle it on/off delete cookies, and watch it throw back different prices.

2025-04-07 JW***** This is a great app. Just one issue, when running it on MacOS I’m unable to delete per-site user agent rules as there is no delete button. Instead I have to use the safari tool bar button to reset the app.

2023-12-10 mi***** The app can change the user agent string, but Web sites still correctly identify the browser and OS. Web sites have advanced browser identification methods and do not rely on the user agent string. So you will still see the mobile version of the Web site and Web sites that prevent you from viewing them on mobile browsers, such as Disney+, will still force you to use their app no matter what you change the user agent string to. Therefore, this application has no benefit from a practical standpoint.
