Features & Capabilities

Liquid Apollo lets you chat with private, local AI models, connect to every open-source AI, or your own locally hosted private LLMs. It’s your customizable client for accessing language models from across the web, while keeping data under your control.

Local model support powered by LEAP enables on-device privacy for smaller LLMs. OpenRouter integration lets you paste an API key to chat with a wide catalog of models, from open-source options like Meta Llama 3 to closed models like OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4. You can also run a private backend at home with tools like LM Studio or Ollama to deliver a private ChatGPT-like experience.

User Reviews

Liquid Apollo is praised for its local-first AI capabilities, fast model performance, and a refined, configurable UI that works well across iPhone and Mac. Users value the ability to run cloud and local LLMs, including offline operation, and the app’s smooth cross-device sync. The main recurring drawback is the web search feature, which several reviews request to fix; other stability quirks exist after updates. Overall, it’s a top choice for power users seeking flexible control over local and remote AI models.
Pros
  • Ability to run both cloud and local LLMs (including offline use on iPhone), with easy connection to a local LLM server.
  • Outstanding model performance and speed; capable of handling coding tasks and complex prompts.
  • Polished, configurable UI with a sleek feel; easy setup and battery-friendly.
  • Strong cross-device synchronization (iCloud) across iPhone and Mac.
  • Free to start with access to multiple models; user-friendly and approachable.
Cons
  • Web search functionality is inconsistent and needs improvement; search reliability has been frequently noted as a pain point.

I’ve tried about every AI tool imaginable over the past 2 years and based on my experience, I am dumbfounded as to why this is so highly rated and now with Apple Intelligence becoming at least functional over the past few weeks, why this will remain an option in the iOS store. There’s legitimately not one use case for it since it botches everything you ask it to do. That said, I also understand the intention behind the app and applaud that but by AI’s very nature, it’s efficacy is inversely correlated to privacy —the more privacy protections you’re willing to waive, the better the underlying AI will perform; nothing will change that as Edge AI is largely a farce @Apple - stop censoring my reviews. The next time you do I’m reporting your conduct to the AG’s and FTC’s offices

Liquid’s models are going to change the world. Imagine the entire power of Anthropic plus Open AI in the palm of your hand powered only by your phone.

Could have a lot more features, like being able to download your own custom model or import your own gguf or safetensors file. It’s a good nice designed app though i would like more customization options for it
