I’ve played Elephant Games for years, and I keep wondering why so many of their newer titles revolve around horror. It’s a shame because I think they’re wasting one of their greatest strengths. Their older games, especially the Mystery Trackers series, are proof of what they can do. Those games focused on memorable storytelling, clever mysteries, wonderful companions, and a sense of fun. They didn’t need endless monsters, gore, or creepy imagery to keep players engaged. The writing and characters carried the experience. I also wish they’d spend more time improving the controls, especially on the iPhone. The touch mechanics can be incredibly frustrating. I’ll try to pick up an object, and instead the entire window closes because the touch target is so unforgiving. It happens repeatedly and turns simple gameplay into an exercise in patience. It makes me wonder whether these games are thoroughly tested on iOS before release. Elephant has produced some of my favorite hidden-object adventures, which is exactly why this is so disappointing. I’d love to see them return to what made them special: engaging mysteries, imaginative companions, polished gameplay, and stories that create wonder instead of relying so heavily on horror.

I was really looking forward to this one, but it’s a bit frayed around the edges. Worst of all, if I close the game to get on with the rest of my life, the sound cuts out. The only way to get it back is to turn my iPad off completely. And no, it’s not the iPad. This is the only game it happens with. I will try again another time!
