User Reviews

Users praise the app’s multilingual capabilities, immersive UI, and cross‑platform availability, plus its ability to preserve page layout. However, frequent complaints center on translation quality, restrictive/free-tier limitations and random language results, unreliable system‑wide features, and subscription/config issues. Overall, it's seen as useful for multilingual reading when it works, but reliability and billing bugs dampen the experience.
Pros
  • Robust multilingual/bilingual translation across many languages, including less common ones.
  • Immersive UI with dark mode and an improved reading/watching experience.
  • Cross‑platform availability and parity across Safari on Mac and extensions for Edge/Chrome.
  • Preserves webpage layout while translating, aiding readability without layout breaks.
  • Generally useful for multilingual reading and content work (lifesaver for frequent translators).
Cons
  • Translations often feel machine-like or nonsensical, hurting naturalness and accuracy.
  • Free version is unreliable or misrepresented; significant paywall and random-language results.
  • Language settings can be ignored or pages default to random languages instead of the chosen target.
  • System‑wide/other‑app translation features are unreliable or broken (long‑press translate, Roku streaming).
  • Subscription/account problems and upgrade/config bugs (login, restore, config loss).

too much like machine translation — it doesn’t feel natural, and the word order is off

自由访问英文世界
by Mr*****, 2026-05-03

I saw good reviews for this extension so I thought I would give it a try. The free version is a complete failure. Even though I have it set to translate to English, it translates different sections of web pages into completely random languages. Russian, Japanese, Hindi, Hebrew, all on the same page. And the actual English translations are nonsensical. The paid pro version may work as expected, but there is no way I’m going to spend my money to find out if the free version can’t operate as promised.
