Piggy Bank Kids - Bomad

Money & allowance tracker

Features & Capabilities

Bomad (Bank of Mom and Dad) is a virtual piggy bank and allowance tracker for families. A parent creates a piggy bank for each child from the parent app, and the child can view their balance on their own device. The app records allowances, birthday gifts, and cash gifts, and deducts spending as purchases are made.

Key features include saving goals, chores-based payments, and the ability to split funds into spending, saving, and giving. Older kids can request transfers to real bank accounts, making money management real-world ready. Notifications keep everyone informed and engaged in building healthy money habits.

User Reviews

Piggy Bank Kids - Bomad is praised for being easy to set up and use, and for effective money tracking across multiple kids with family-friendly sharing and cross-device syncing. The standout downside is a paywall: the free plan limits to ~5 transactions and the full feature set requires a subscription, which some users consider expensive. Despite the cost, many users find it helps families stay organized and teaches money management.
Pros
  • Easy to set up and use with an intuitive interface.
  • Excellent for tracking kids' money across multiple accounts and kids, with clear balances and activity tracking.
  • Supports linking both parents and letting the child monitor balances, keeping the family on the same page.
  • Cross-device syncing across iPhone, iPad, and Android ensures data stays consistent.
  • Minimalist, no-frills design that effectively covers core money management needs (even the free version is helpful).
Cons
  • Free version is limited to about 5 transactions before you must pay, creating a paywall for continued use.
  • Subscription can be pricey (around $30/year) to unlock full features.
  • Core functionality and full feature access are gated behind the paywall, which some users view as a poor value.
Recent reviews
This presents itself as a free app but that is a front. You can only try it out (5 transactions) before it locks you out of any functionality unless you pay an ongoing subscription.

It’s such a scam. They advertise it as free but after you set everything up and use 5 transactions, you are DONE unless you pay. There are better options out there.
