Review summary
Pros
- The hardware itself is high quality and the Arcadia LumenIZE lights are praised for reliable performance and the brand’s reputation.
- The dawn/dusk automation and dimming features offered by the app provide a realistic sunrise/sunset effect when they work.
- A simple scheduling approach using as few as four time/power entries can achieve the desired cycle, making setup straightforward for some users.
- Some users report that the lights and app work fine for their setup and would recommend the product.
Cons
- Bluetooth connectivity is unreliable: the app often only connects when the phone is very close to the light, with scans failing and frequent disconnects.
- Scheduling and timer features are unreliable: programmed on/off times frequently don't run, custom modes may delete, and copy/paste for time slots often fails.
- The app UI/UX is clunky and outdated, with unresponsive controls and tabs that won't open in some sessions.
- Lack of ongoing support and updates: reviews note the app hasn't been updated in a long time and many bugs persist.
- Some features require proximity or have limited range, and there are time-format or device-compatibility quirks (e.g., fixed military time, inconsistent behavior across devices).

| 2026-08-03 | Ge***** | I bought my first iPhone 18 years ago. In that time I’ve had 100’s of apps of all kinds. LumenIZE is the single worst app I’ve ever used. I would be confident that this app could be high on the list of worst app ever created worldwide. The user interface is a mess, and I have a hard time believing that anyone could have designed something so terrible. If you are an app developer and want to know how not to build an app. Try this one. If you are anyone else, figure out a different way to light your LunenIZE light bar. | |

| 2026-05-03 | Wa***** | I use to love this app and the light, the item would work like clock work, now it’s completely broken. The app not only deleted the entire schedule I created it also does not follow the new one I set. This needs to be fixed ASAP especially because this is the main reason for getting this product. | |

| 2026-03-28 | xK***** | Purchased this because of the features listed on the box. Having dimmable and timed options on app sounded great. App pretty much lets you manually dim as needed which works just fine but timer seems to be an issue. There is a way to adjust custom schedule but theres no time listed anywhere on the app. Very confusing if it’s using your phones time or something else so I tested having it shut off at different intervals and it never did. I set a schedule for the next morning to turn on and it never did. I opened the app and my programmed schedule was off. What is the point of this app other than manual dimming? | |

| 2026-03-18 | By***** | When purchasing the UVB and LED lights the fact that I can make the percentages of light go up and down was why I bought it in the first place. The app is useless. I have tried multiple times to reprogram and it ends up leaving my bearded dragon with lights that go on and off consistently. The custom modes delete on their own and I’ve had to restart from scratch. I ended up putting both lights on a timer because the app is very spotty and whether it’s going to work or not. I believe it has potential but they really need to work on fixing the bugs in this app. | |

| 2026-03-10 | To***** | Cord switch is 6” from wall outlet to try and force you to use this garbage app. App does not work, impossible to program, and when nothing works…you get to crawl around on floor to try and turn off and on. Just freaking wonderful for someone with back issues. All just to force this junk on you whether you want it or not. My advice buy a replacement cord with switch for humans OR cut cord and install decent usable switch. (Cheap and simple to do) BEST OPTION BUY A LIGHT FIXTURE FROM SOMEONE ELSE AND USE ARCADIA BULBS. Spoke with 3 women at reptile show. They all hate this app as they live where they do not have internet or cell service. So much for rural service. On behalf of those ladies…Thanks Arcadia for nothing except more expensive useless junk | |

| 2026-01-28 | Th***** | This app is extremely basic and lacking in every aspect. I’m using the iPhone 15 pro max and the app doesn’t even compensate for the front camera on the screen like it should. When I try and hit the back button at the top left it just doesn’t work so I have to close the app every time. I haven’t even seen yet if it will actually work after I took quite a bit of time to go through and set the time and brightness level. It’s also in military time and I don’t see a way to change that so that’s pretty annoying as well. I don’t have much hope for it at this point. Might end up returning all the LumenIZE fixtures and just get the normal lamps. After about two weeks of testing and adding my custom day/night cycle my custom mode is completely gone. I’m actually in disbelief Arcadia has an app this poorly ran/put together | |

| 2026-01-08 | Sc***** | Bought the 46inch lumenize for a big enclosure I recently built. The app only connects if you’re close to it, and when your phone is not connected to the app it will not turn on the lights for you. What a waste of money, stick to zoo med brand at least you can just plug it into a timer outlet and have it set to on and off automatically. Cheap bs. | |

| 2025-12-06 | Du***** | Needs some serious improvement. You should be able to label each light to the reptile or pet that it is being used on. I have multiple lizards and lights and it is a pain in the but to figure out what light is on what enclosure with out messing with the intensity of the light. With that said I’m sure that is not good on the health of the animal. Lights work good and app works but definitely could use improvement. | |

| 2025-11-25 | Ke***** | Arcadia has such a good reputation in reptile lighting that you would think this app would be more user friendly and less glitchy. I am trying to adjust one of my three LumenIZE fixtures but it either won’t pick it up on Bluetooth scan or it does but when I click on it the time slots and sliders disappear 2 seconds later. The last app update was a year ago?! Come on Arcadia! Do better! | |

| 2025-11-06 | Mi***** | I purchased my 48” 80w LumenIZE in Nov 2025, using app version 1.8 for reference. I bought this to light a small reptile room, which has no windows so wanted to be able to simulate a natural day/night cycle - so the main feature that brought me to this product was the dawn/dusk feature. I’ve been using for about a week. Not sure if things have improved since some of the bad reviews a year ago, but the light and app work fine for me. Make sure you read the instructions. The Bluetooth only works within a few feet of the light, so you need to enter all of your settings while near the light, and once you walk away it disconnects but keeps the settings going. Also need to stay on top of replacing the battery regularly in the lamp so it holds the program. You do NOT need to enter settings for every hour or half hour time as some complained. You only need 4 time and power entries for the light to work as a sunrise and sunset unit. You can enter more if you want but not necessary. Again, read the instructions and the example they give. The major improvement I would like to see is to have the twilight dawn/dusk hour or so to be in a more natural red/orange color. The unit keeps the same white light and just dims it down to 0% which just doesn’t give that true sunset (or sunrise) feel. I also don’t understand the two included programs - they don’t seem particularly natural or useful. Adding in programs that track the natural light cycle in a temperate zone and a tropical zone would be more useful. The programs should also provide power that follows a bell curve to match natural daylight rather than ramping up or down in a linear way. I realize that you could do this by creating a custom program, but given the technology today I would thing that a few more features added to the app for ease of applying natural light cycles and color temperatures wouldn’t be that difficult. But overall I would recommend this product as-is, with the hope of future improvements. If Arcadia doesn’t do it, I’m sure someone else will. | |
