User Reviews

Monster Hunter Now delivers fun, real-world monster hunting with a rich MH feel and strong mobile adaptation, boosted by varied weapons and social play. However, many reviews converge on four drawbacks: heavy monetization that gates progress, frequent stability issues (lags and crashes), accessibility constraints tied to real-world movement, and a punishing late-game progression that pushes paid purchases. Addressing performance, balance, and reducing paywalls would improve the overall experience for more players.
Pros
  • Fun and engaging monster hunting with varied combat.
  • Excellent weapon variety and deep customization options.
  • Faithful mobile adaptation that captures the Monster Hunter feel for longtime fans.
  • GPS-based exploration that encourages real-world movement (like Pokémon Go).
  • Social/family-friendly play where players can share the experience.
Cons
  • Predatory microtransactions and expensive upgrades that gate progress.
  • Stability and performance issues, including lag, crashes, and random disconnects that waste progress.
  • Accessibility limitations due to required real-world movement and speed restrictions.
  • Late-game progression is punishing and heavily monetized, making long-term grinding feel costly.

I am really enjoying this game. It follows a similar GPS system like Pokemon Go and Pikmin. Instead you fight much more often and can level up far more often. Tons of misters everywhere so plenty of reason to explore. Thank you for a great game!

This game is fun but definitely has a pay to get better equipment. The gems I need to upgrade my armor or weapons are super rare to come by. You can get more if you buy the pass but not here to spend money on a gotcha game for the phone. Honestly this kinda kills it for me and sad to see capcom sign off to this kind of game even if it’s still a third party studio. It’s still holding the name of monster hunter and giving it a terrible name. For a mobile game they need to lower the difficulty on some monsters and or fix the weapons and armor.

The game translates well to the mobile format- monster fights are fun, weapons are varied and interesting, and the customization options are excellent. However, the amount of money required for basic items (potions) is outrageous. Newer players will be turned off immediately by the $.60/potion price after their free daily allotment inevitably runs out while trying to learn the systems. This problem never gets better, as monsters get increasing more difficult and gain the ability to KO your character in 1-2 hits. Another great game marred by predatory micro-transactions.
