Discover the Napoleonic Itineraries in the Coimbra Region!

The French Invasions of the beginning of the XIX century deeply marked the political, sociocultural and economic history of the country, in the most diverse latitudes, translating into multiple manifestations of material and immaterial nature, some of which are still remembered and experienced. The territory of the Intermunicipal Community of the Region of Coimbra has several stories and marks left by the French Invasions (especially in the third invasion, between 1810 and 1811). This App aims to contribute to the construction of a vector of tourism development across borders that promotes, preserves and values the historical and cultural values of the Napoleonic routes not only in the context of this Region, but also with other national and international projects. Based on 19 informative structures placed in each of the municipalities in emblematic places related to the French Invasions, whose location is available on the map that you can find here: https:/visitregiaodecoimbra.pt/as-invasoes-French/ it is possible to go through this thematic Itinerary, accessing each of the experiences with a mobile phone through a QR-CODE placed in each of these structures. The brilliant conduct of the Portuguese military had the fair recognition of Wellesley, future Duke of Wellington, and therefore deserves that we can dignify this moment in the history of Portugal through this sharing of experiences and transmission of knowledge about the relationship of each one of the territories and their populations with the passage of French and Anglo-French troops, led by renowned generals such as Massena, Wellington, without forgetting our Portuguese soldiers, whom Wellington called brave soldiers!  Take this opportunity to experience the events, return to the past and to discover and enjoy all the other charms of these territories on a journey of this collective imaginary. Integrated Promotion of Tourism Products, co-financed by Centro 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union, integrated in the Landmarks - French Invasions initiative, in which other information supports such as tourist totems and maps were created, one of them with the seal of National Geographic.
