DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use this!! It didn’t work where there was no service and they won’t cancel your subscription for a year!! I’m out $480 for my husband and I for these pieces of junk.

That’s not a hyperbolic title. The most recent versions of the app require users to be logged in, which requires data coverage. I’ve started hikes and been logged out by the end. While the app may be useful for entertainment purposes, it is completely unacceptable to have a safety application which logs users out routinely and arbitrarily, and does not allow a login without the coverage which makes satellite communications meaningless.

The new version of the app keeps on logging out when the Bluetooth beacon is disconnected. So if you are out of cellular network and it logs out, there is no way to continue using the app to send messages.
