User Reviews

Land Builder is praised for its relaxing tile-building gameplay, pretty visuals, and diverse terrains, plus engaging rescue missions. However, it is hampered by pervasive ads and monetization tactics, gated progression, and a notable demand for sandbox/infinite-build modes and more tile variety.
Pros
  • Relaxing, calming hex-based land-building gameplay that is satisfying to place tiles.
  • Beautiful artwork and music that create a soothing atmosphere.
  • Creative freedom to build lands, towns, and landscapes.
  • Varied terrains and unique tiles across different lands.
  • Rescue/mission levels add new goals and variety.
Cons
  • Ad overload and constant pop-ups interrupt gameplay; even users who purchase ad-free still encounter ads.
  • Progression feels gated by purchases and paywalls; beating levels often requires buying items.
  • Lack of sandbox/creative or infinite-build mode; strong requests for more creative freedom.
  • Limited tile variety and repetition of the same special tiles; desire for more tiles.
  • Some players report inconsistent ad experiences and other monetization quirks.

The developers have essentially completely overhauled this game a few times. To some extent, that’s been good—for the most part, I prefer the current mechanics. Tile generation now depends on placement on the board, rather than the ugly generator tiles; the return of 3-environment tiles makes interesting arrangements possible. I like the current puzzle levels, though I also enjoyed the ones they’ve gotten rid of (and don’t understand why they ditched them, tbh). However, in these overhauls, they’ve also changed several things for the worse, clearly as an attempt to get in-game purchases. For example, in a previous iteration, I had collected several epic tiles through gameplay. Then, I needed to delete and reinstall the game, which starts you over from scratch (though the ad-free purchase carries over). Anyway, it turns out that those epic tiles are no longer obtainable through regular gameplay—only through purchase. In fact, you cannot complete any world or environment set without spending real money now. There is no other path to obtain these tiles. They cannot be purchased with the premium in-game currency, gems. (Also, it’s only possible to obtain a limited quantity of gems without purchasing more. Furthermore, though there are loads of options to purchase more gems, there is nothing to spend them on that you can’t get by watching ads.) Epic tiles can’t be won through the chests (in fact, the chests are worthless after you collect the standard tiles). They can’t be won by voluntarily watching ads. Also, literally every time you open the app, you have to click through at least three screens of in-game purchase ads before you get to the game. Again, this is after purchasing the ad-free pack. So—it’s frustrating. I like so much about this game, but I hate that so much content is locked off without spending hundreds of dollars.

Fun game if you can look past the excessive ads every 10 clicks or so. At first it was fine but the further into the levels the more annoying they’re getting. Ads Interrupting levels is not cool.

Super addictive, i started playing around 10 pm Saturday, didn't realize i was still up until 1 am. Only downside is the ads, they pop up randomly.
