Eddy for Twitter

A Passive Twitter Experience

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Eddy animates through your twitter feed, one tweet at a time in a fullscreen display. That means you can read the latest tweets while keeping your hands free for cooking or coding or eating nachos while you watch the game.

The default view is your home timeline (people you follow), but you can also view #hashtags and searches.

User Reviews

Reviewers praise Eddy for Twitter as a handy, one-tweet-at-a-time slideshow that lets you monitor Twitter hands-free, even on a TV, with a clean, fast design. The core appeal is that it gives each tweet dedicated screen time, aiding readability. However, complaints focus on the fixed display time being too short for longer tweets and the need for adjustable speed. Compatibility issues with newer iOS/Twitter changes and a lack of ongoing updates are noted. Some feature requests include better link handling and image sizing, but the concept remains strong.
Pros
  • Shows tweets one at a time, making them easy to digest.
  • Hands-free reading and use on larger screens (TV/office) helps you monitor your feed without distraction.
  • Clean, simple design that feels stable and fast.
  • Gives each tweet the screen time it deserves so you don’t miss content.
Cons
  • Tweets disappear too quickly; long tweets can’t be read within the shown time.
  • Lacks speed or duration control to adjust how long each tweet is shown.
  • Compatibility issues with newer iOS/Twitter changes and defunct login/authentication requiring an update.
  • Last major update was years ago (2014) and there are concerns about ongoing maintenance.

This app is pretty handy for keeping any eye on your Twitter feed while you’re focusing on something else. One feature that would make it even better would be a way to slow it down for longer tweets. Sometimes it goes to the next tweet before I can finish reading the current one.

Often I find some tweets are too wordy to read in their entirety before the next tweet appears. I know I can drag back any tweet to finish reading it, but being able to adjust the standard screen time allotted to each tweet would make things more enjoyable. Thanks for a great app.
