Features & Capabilities

1000 Miles is a card-based racing game inspired by a classic French game. The deck includes distance cards (700/1000 miles), hazard cards to slow opponents, remedies to clear hazards, and safeties to prevent them. The goal is to reach 700 miles first, with the option to extend to 1000 miles. It’s easy to learn, fun for kids, and highly addictive.

Features include Game Center achievements and leaderboards, two AI difficulty levels, and the option to upgrade to the full version for turn-based multiplayer via Game Center or pass-and-play on a single device. The game also offers multiple backgrounds and a detailed in-game tutorial. The free version includes all features except for extending races to 1000 miles and multiplayer; upgrade via in-app purchase.

User Reviews

Overall sentiment is mixed: reviewers praise 1000 Miles as a faithful, smooth, and addictive digital rendition of Mille Bornes with a challenging AI. However, many users report persistent concerns about non-random card distribution that seems biased toward the computer, frequent AI advantages, and a range of bugs in single- and multi-player modes. Multiplayer friction includes turn-order issues, a lack of a timer, and Game Center quirks. Some suggest missing features like cross-platform play. Despite these warts, the game remains a solid, enjoyable way to play Mille Bornes digitally.
Pros
  • Faithful to Mille Bornes rules and original gameplay.
  • Challenging, competitive AI that provides a genuine challenge.
  • Clean, simple UI with smooth, quick gameplay.
  • Faithful digital recreation that captures the feel of the physical game.
  • Great for solo play against the AI and for quick multiplayer matches.
Cons
  • Perceived lack of randomness; card distribution often favors the AI and can feel biased.
  • Multiplayer/online issues: turn-order confusion, no turn timer, and Game Center quirks.
  • Various bugs and UX quirks (e.g., green light after safety not auto-activating, discard/drag issues, deck not reshuffling when empty).
  • Platform limitation: no Android version and limited cross-platform online play.
  • Frequent feedback about card handling inconsistencies and AI advantages affecting fairness.
Recent reviews
Update: unless I cheat by starting a new hand I NEVER WIN a game. It’s become rare to win a hand. It could be halfway through the deck before I get a green. When I do, there’s an immediate hazard that I rarely have the repair for. And when I do have a hazard, the AI almost always has a safety. Old: It’s become rare to win a hand, much less a game. Pretty much every hand is the AI hitting me with hazard after hazard, and anytime I respond, the AI gets a Coupe Fourré. I haven’t won a single game in a week..

I think this game is very fun and is a good pick for anyone who owns or has played the card game mile bornes the UI is simple but effective and the game feels smooth

I read other reviews and figured I try this since there isn’t a good Mille Bornes like game on the App Store anymore. The bugs mentioned in the other reviews aren’t bugs at all, it’s not knowing the rules. The rules implemented here are how the game plays to the letter. I suggest other reviewers re-read the rules of the game (they are available free online). The AI is pretty cut throat. I like it.
