Users value mobile access to Backblaze backups and the core cloud service, but the iOS app suffers from reliability issues. Recurrent problems include audio interruptions, endless loading, login/authentication obstacles, and difficulty browsing or previewing files without downloading. Initial backups and restores are often slow or stall. Overall, the service is strong, but the iOS app needs substantial stability and usability improvements to deliver consistent access and performance.

App interrupts or stops audio playback while in use
Frequent loading issues: content won’t load, spins indefinitely, or browse/files don’t display
Login/authentication problems: repeated password prompts, Face ID issues, and login screen instability
Inability to view files without downloading (no thumbnails, hard to browse, slow file tree)
Initial backup/restore can be slow or get stuck, affecting reliability

Recent reviews

The app is very slow to update. The one reason I got it was to monitor progress on a large initial backup on a machine. The progress the app displays is sometimes hours out of date campers to what I can see by logging into the Backblaze website. The UI and design are not great either but the update frequency is horrible.

I don’t know how many times I’ve been texted a code and selected “remember this device” and it always forgets. The lack of previews (for images especially) turns the download process into total guesswork. Please add these improvements!
